As the title says.

- Tried Defragment
- Cleaned the computer from ad-ware etc. with SpyBot S&D
- Checked the computer for viruses (AVG)
- Cleaned the registries (CCleaner)
- Removed useless files, such as cookies

That won't help him at all. (By the way, registry cleaners don't speed up your computer.)

Possibly some undetected virus program which runs a hidden batch
Try your temp and Temp internet files
Similar thing happened to me once

should i try a different anti-virus?

And it could be because of overheating, haven't cleaned my computer for months.

First turn the pc off and all power
then unscrew the pc or take off the case
get some kitchen roll or whatever and just clean some dust off of the fans
It'll do the pc some good even if it doesn't solve the problem

Kitchen roll, what? Sureee, if you want to scrape off some chip-parts whilst wiping. Rolling Eyes

Yes

WARNING BEFORE YOU DO THIS GO TO START -> ALL PROGRAMS -> ACCESSORIES -> SYSTEM TOOLS -> SYSTEM RESTORE -> CREATE A RESTORE POINT

If you're using IE go to Tools - Options - Delete - delete all
and then go to C:\documents and settings\yernamehere\local settings\temp and delete all that
If it says "cannot delete blablabla being used by another program" then just delete everything else
Then download IObit smart defrag and defragment you're computer
try uninstalling software before you do this and put everything you need back on later
Make sure you look for all that stuff you don't need and clean it up

If it's still running like crap then you can do this as well:

Right click on desktop -> Properties -> Appearance -> Set to windows classic style
Right click on start menu - > Properties -> Open the Start Menu tab -> and set the classic start menu
Right click on my computer - > Properties --> Advanced -> Performance settings -> Adjust for best performance -> OK

Then Press ok and restart PC
If you don't like it afterwards you can go to Start ->All programs -> Accessories -> System tools -> System Restore Very Happy

Hope it helped
