yeah, it's good. currently it's one of the best cards available (only beaten by some other versions of itself and a few ATI's), but i think you should wait. yesterday the nvidia 9600 came out, so i think the new 9800 will be here soon too.

But I dont want to spend a lot of money on the 9800. So Im just going to get the 8800.
Also whats the difference between the last 2 letters in the end like 8800GT/8800SE

Depends on what you want. If you play games like Crysis, and you want to play it on high at 1920 x 1200, then you'll need a powerful, dual graphics card solution. Something along the lines of 2x HD3870X2, or 2x 9800GX2. But most people can't cash in $1000 dollars just for a graphics update.
The 8800GT is a great card, not only performance, but price as well. If you can't even buy an 8800GT, then get an 8800GS, or 9600GT. They perform just slightly worse (less than 1 FPS in Crysis difference) for $50-$100 cheaper. But the extra unified shaders on the 8800GT do help.
Overall, the 8800GT is one of the best mid/high range cards, for a very good price. Half the price of an 8800GTX, but 1-5FPS lower performance. Every single review site has rated this one with Editor's Choice, or an equivalent high ranking. Awesome price + Performance = 8800GT
In terms of performance:
8800GT > 9600GT > 8800GS (slightly worse)
