Putting in and Pulling heatsink is hard. I got some cuts on my knuckles doing that, but I was stupid and I was doing it when the motherboard was in the case. I suggest taking the motherboard out first. :]

Nah, it really depends on what you get.

I needed to put a bracket on the back of my motherboard to hold my behemoth heatsink in place. It's so horrifyingly huge I fear that one day I will just hear SNAP.

Well i officially screwed up the CPU processor chip, my dads just going to buy a new computer..

We did clean the heatsink but the CPU processor chip was glued on the back of the heatsink and then when we tried to put it in, the chip got messed up..

We forgot for this computer type, you cant just pull the heatsink off..

Total cost of repairing=$200

Rather buy a new computer

OMFG.... You didnt unlock clip holding the sinc to the board and broke it didnt you?
This is a perfect example of why people who dont know jack should not touch the inside of a pc and learn something about it before attempting so.
Also i was wondering if you was going to pull it off with it powered up, then you would see blue fire and some smoke.
G.J. Mate... Now you know how to get your dad to buy a new pc.

We were anyways, its been 3 years, and it was really him who did it, and because my old style pc, the CPU fan had 2 levers, so you really couldnt dispatch that part..
Because PC's now dont have the CPY Processor chip glued to the back of the heatsink, so even if you do pull the heatsink out, the CPU processor wont be affected..
And all i did was follow the instructions by the members here, "Pull the heatsink out and clean it"

If you were careful, I don't know how the hell you could break the clip.

You're out of luck unless you buy a new heatsink.

Careful i was but i dont know, the fan was the one with the 2 levers..
Yes i would be very happy if i had to replace ONLY the heatsink, but at the back of the heatsink it was the CPU processor chip, so that got messed up + no other motherboard is compatible with my CPU Processor..

So ya its basically CPU Processor, and Motherboard

Dad already got a new pc, Intel Celeron, 1gig ram, 120gb harddrive 1.6ghz, Vista Evil or Very Mad , about $300
