This sorta happens to me every now and then. Try pressing Alt+Ctrl+Delete.
It might bring everything back. Tell me if it works (Most bootleg answer ever or what?) _________________

Start > Run > explorer.exe.
If it persists, pop your OS disk in and try to do a 'Repair' _________________

Alt+Ctrl+Delete
File -> New Task (Run...) -> type explorer.exe
That should work, unless the file does not exist. |

explorer.exe has nothing to do with the actual explorer. So, no. You won't find it in the Internet Explorer folder. _________________

It's in System32 folder. Try to repair it/do a chkdsk on your drive.
Edit: Oh wow. Should have searched before I posted. Thought it was in system32, but, proven below it's in %HOMEDRIVE%\windows _________________
