Get Nvidia Geforce 8800GT.
Not sure if that latest, but I dont check very much.
Also, which windows do you have, not vista or xp, but is it x32bit or x64bit?
if its 32, get 2gb ram. Max really for me.
Processor.....Not good at this category but intel Xeon/intel Core2/Intel Core Extreme. Series.
Cooler just get the best cooler you can the cost like nothing anyway

Can you tell me how much that is in USD?
Also, Don't expect to beable to run Crysis well, unless you are running DX9; no setup can take Crysis + DX10's awesome power.

According to a currency converter I found on google in 10 seconds, €1000 is approximately 1420 USD.
Anyway, as far as I know, XP runs much, much faster than Vista.
I'm sure I've seen at least 2 or 3 threads with a very similar budget before. I'll see if I can go fetch them for you.
Here's one with a budget of 1500USD:

(Sorry for the bypass... Can't post URLs yet :S)

Well, considering your friend said factory prices, and considering your price in USD is about $1465. I will make you a good gaming build list.
Off an american retailer though.
NEWEGGGGG.
Pwnage
Btw, I built my computer, and I run a computer building business.
Working on it, give me a few minutes.
EDIT: Do you need moniter, keyboard, mouse?

If he lives anywhere other than US, Newegg won't work.
Also, codepoint, you don't need to keep saying 'factory price', It isn't factory price, just much cheaper than a prebuilt system.

Doubt it's at factory prices, maybe he gets OEM products? To get things at factory prices you have to get them in very large quantities, for example to get factory price through Intel the smallest order is a crate of 1,000 CPU's.

Oh, well I didn't make myself clear I guess.
I have a business in my neighborhood.
Big neighborhood though. 600+ houses.
