Using a fully modded ASUS P5W64 WS Pro, a Core 2 Extreme X6800, 2GB of Mushkin XP2-8500 (running on a 1:1 ratio at 3-3-3-5), an S3 Trio64+ PCI graphics card, a Silverstone Zeus 850W power supply, and of course, several liters of liquid nitrogen, Elmor set a new Core 2 Duo speed record. His Core 2 Extreme X6800 reached speeds of 5854 MHz, as proven by his CPU-Z Validation. Rumor has it that Elmor still has 30 liters of LN2, and is going to try beating the SuperPi record. |

An X6800 runs at 2.93GHz stock, he didn't even double in clock rate. Mine went from 1.6GHz stock to 4.68GHz. Mine is moar extreme and it's even only aircooled.
And to think I almost traded this processor with my friend, this chip and $20 for his E4300, glad I didn't now

| Nah it's safe. CPU Temps are low, Power Supply has enough power. :] It's all good.

Agreed, my 1.425 is pushing it even. I wouldn't recommend anything over 1.4v for long-term.

First off, do you have an OEM(prebuilt) machine? If so, you most likely can't.

lol, every1 can do that XD (showing off fsb at the booting menu, just turn up fsb and/or multiplier and vcore.)
but the problem is to get use windows with high vcore... Or problem to get into windows with too low vcore.

Oh, don't even attempt it then. Overclocking a laptop = death. They aren't meant to handle that much heat output.
@data
It's 100% prime stable at 4.35GHz. Not watercooled yet, just extremely good aircooling in a cold room. It's running at 3GHz now, no need for any more.

First off:
Holy shit to your CPU speed.
I really want to overclock my laptop's X6800 CPU, but I know that it would be very idiotic for me to do. (If anything I should underclock it when I'm not doing anything major on it XD As it is right now, I have my laptop in my lap and the core temp, with the three fans on the underside at full, is roughly 47 degrees C. I've seen it reach 69 degrees C [at which point I flipped out, turned it off, and had it sitting upside down for about an hour >.>' ], its shut itself down once because the CPU overheated, and I've gotten down to 33 degrees C while on a table or a desk.)
And Secondly:
Holy shit to tmockingbird's post
5.8GHz?! Jesus Christ.
That would probably make my laptop explode if I tried that...

low 70's is still within specs of the quad cores.
it's pretty damn toasty though.

It's not the QuadCore. Its the Dual Core xTreme Edition X6800.
Your thinking of the QX6800.
