|
|
Hello, I need help removing this unwanted virus on my laptop. It's name is Worm.win32.Skynet, and it believe it came from a Windows Alert that asks me to install something when I turn on my laptop, named Install_sbd_en.exe from the publisher: Locussoftcrop LTD.
I have tried to use Norton AntiVirus and Internet security, along with XoftSpy SE to scan and remove, but it keeps coming back...
XoftSpy SE identified this as "MediaCodec Zlob trogan"
Please & Thank You _________________

if you can, try renaming the virus or infected folder. that way it might not be able to tell where to boot off from. from what i hear is that it starts up when you turn on your computer. (don't quote me on this though, i heard this method from someone on ce forums.)
besides that, try some free adware/ virus removers Here
or you could reformat if worse comes to worse
EDIT: do you have a firewall when you search the web? |

Here's more info:
I didn't do it O_o"
It's my sister's laptop... and I'm trying to save her the trouble and hassle since she has school to worry about.
I'm on my own laptop right now.. so I wouldn't need a fire wall or w.e
She downloads ALOT of anime... could it been one of those torrents that infected her?
[@ Kw3l] I also heard that its starts when your computer is turned on, so pulling the power cord will "destroy" it? _________________

hah... very funny...
anyway, torrents are a very bad way of getting files. any P2p files you download should always be in .zip this way the .exe inside can not do any damage. scan every file you get in a torrent. and also, stay away from software that requires setup. this is sometimes a clever way to get viruses on your computer. and yes that is probably where you got the virus. |

My method
If there's any dll files with it etc, rename them. You likely won't be able to change the name of the executable while it's open, but changing the name of the dll will make the executable not able to function on restart, then you can delete the executable as well. I've used this method many times with success. |
