Hey,
Recently my Dads pc has just randomly been turning off, it started about a day ago, like for an example, surfing the web, doing virus scan, after a while it will randomly just shut off, immediately like the plug was pulled. I even reformatted his PC to make sure it wasnt a virus, still after the format its the same case.
No wire is unplugged or damaged.. Im thinking it could be something wrong inside the pc..
Its about 4 years old, pentuim 4.. 512 MB 2.49Ghz
If something is wrong any reasons? Like overheating etc..
Thanks in advance! _________________

I'd first try using a CO2 canister to clean the inside of any dust which can build up and cause heating issues (bad heating issues will instantly shutdown the computer to prevent hardware failure due to heat) _________________

Dust is usually an issue with older computers, they just sit there and collect it until you get it out. _________________

Usually RAM problems would cause BSOD, not instant shutdown.
It is probably possible though, although it is probably overheating problems, maybe the CPU is overheating because the heatsink fan cooling it died (the fan on top of the heatsink that is on the cpu)
Check that, if it is because of the stopped fan, that is definitely the problem, and should be replaced. _________________

I can assure you its no virus, i even reformatted the computer today but same problem..
Looks like my power watt supply, the back of the tower at the top where you put in the plug for the power..
I just tried to start it now and pushed the on button several times but it didnt even start, i tried to move around the power cable and it started to work, i replaced cable but still same problem.. _________________
