i download the orange box from the net and i donwload direct x 8.0


but when i open one of the games its says " you don+t have the miniun requeriments of direct x 8.0"

I had that same problem. Run this patch and target engine.dll. It should be located in the "bin" folder. I didn't scan it so you should do that first, it worked for me though.

thanks! but after i pacth it, the screen get a little bit weird, like holes in the screen but them it stays cool.


and it crash every time i enter in the front door on Portal.

Only solution is to do a bit of researching and find a better version of the patch (if available), and if there is none, I guess you will have to put up with the problems until there is... Sorry if its not much help.
