I started with C#.

I'd probably suggest C++ though, unless you want to get straight into windows forms, without all the crap and stuff for C++.

C/C++ will give you complete control over anything you do in the program. Visual Basic is a RAD style language to create programs that use GUIs on the fly. Where as in C/C++, you have to do everything yourself. Nothing is done for you for the most part.
