So... I am not a serious gamer nor a serious computer genius. I know just enough to understand a little bit of jargon and now how to fix my computer in general situations. So I have a dell computer that is pent 4. I've had the computer for 4-5 years. It runs on Windows XP. A few years ago I got a new monitor for that and a few months ago I put in wireless keyboard and mouse. Other then that, nothing has changed on the computer and it runs the way I run it. A little lag sometimes but that is due to Internet problems and nothing else much. It satisfies me very much and I'm happy with.

This morning I turned on my computer before I went to school but something strange happened. It went to my regular background and stuff then it went blue screen, I tried it again and it went to blue screen again. Once more and it went to this blue screen but this time it was scanning something and it said it was deleting some files. I decided to go to school and when I got back my computer was shut off.

Problem: Now I can't really turn on my computer. My computer and moniter uses power from a multi socket outlet and I just turn that on and my stuff turns on. But the computer turns on once and the monitor turns on but there isn't a video signal from my computer to my monitor so it's still black. The computer hums like it is loading and then it turns off and a few seconds, it turns back on again. The monitor is unresponsive but I know it still works and everything else works. The computer is always doing the turn on, then off, then stays on again every time I try to turn it on. So right now I just think my video card is broken but if there is any advice I can get or if I am wrong about the video card, I'll appreciate it.

Blue Screen of Death, that sucks. Probably some hardware problems. The way you turn your computer on and off sounds kind of weird, like you're just pressing the power button.

The computer remains on and it hums and the fan works and lights are blinking xD. But the monitor can't get anything and also when I plug in my ipod or something, the ipod don't read up on the computer. I know the computer is on but also you know when you plug in an ipod it should say do not disconnect? I didn't see that.

Be sure your mouse and keyboard (if not USB) are plugged into the correct places. Client at work had them backwards and the computer would restart until they were fixed.

MotherBoard Got fryed or PSU got fired or RAM got fried or processor got fried. Most likely MotherBoard. HAHA.Hope i helped.

This doesn't sound like a hardware issue to me...

Try what Saviour said, and you can always just ask Dell support.

Actually , the same sort of situation happened to my friend. Try unplugging every thing that is connected to a USB port. Meaning unplug your keyboard, mouse, etc (The things that connect to your USB ports).

Turning your computer on/off multiple times in a row(While running XP) will make it crash, This happend to my moms bf before.

I don't know what is the cause of it but, I think it doesn't have time to save the information that you had last time you restarted it, and then when it loads up to tell you that your computer didn't shut down properly(you shut down again) that it just stops working
