i have vista and my desktop is blank and the start button is missing plus all the buttons
if more info is needed please ask i really need to fix it

umm it might be that on startup that explorer.exe might be missing

Press ctrl+alt+del, open task manager, select new task, type in explorer.exe

Does that fix it?

how in the hell did you get here if your screen is black....
also did you try restarting your windows.
if you dont want to whats your vid card.

If your process "explorer.exe" is currently running, end it, and make a new task with the same name.

he said blank screen, not black.

my friend had this problem before, or well, the start button was their but couldnt click it.

he deleted some windows .dlls-(lol)-


well he just reformatet his pc to fix it.

you can try popping ur windows disc in ur pc and use repair option.
