| I want to use memory hacking to simply read the cards that are dealt in a video poker game to be used in another source code. I need to be able to quickly read a a neatly layed out hand of 5 cards that are dealt very quickly. I wanted to use a screen scraper and was wandering if cheat engine would be able to do this for me?

This section is for asking questions about your own code to get something working properly, or something on that line. Not a request section for people to do the work for you. Start working on some code and if you run into issues, post your problems and people will attempt to help you.

Is cheat engine an ocr type software or is it different? In a video poker game on my computer i was able to change the amount of coins loaded into the video poker machine withou changing my money balance. this was play money though but was still kid of cool. I could start out at 0 dollars in the vp machine change the value in the ce program and my chip balance wouldn't change but the video poker machine says there is the amount of money which i entered. After playing the hand the balance is then taken from my total balance though.
Yet, what I want to do is to be able to recognize cards when they are dealt to be compared to a strategy table in another project. I was told instead of ocr i could use memory hacking to get the cards which are dealt turned into values to be put into a coding project. Any help would be good.

OCR? Only thing I know of that OCR stands for is optical character recognition. If thats what you are referring to, then no, CE is a memory editor. In most cases the game will store the cards shown to you in memory as well which you should be able to read and understand whats on the table.

Dude they have to show up in memory, Thats the way the software knows what cards are there.
Example of why:
It could deal 7 Aces. There is not that many in the deck.
So each card has something so it can be recognized by the games code, it will be in memory.
