Trying to pick a distro?:
I would suggest Ubuntu, since you seem like a complete noob and don't know what your getting yourself into... but if you do then i would suggest Gentoo or openSuse...
It seems you are pretty stupid. .iso files are burner onto a cd with burning programs. For example, you could use Nero to burn the .iso onto a CD. After, you plop in the CD and restart your computer. If you chose Ubuntu the installation will be extremely quick and painless. I am not sure about openSuse though.
You have to keep in mind, that installing a new OS will wipe out your hard drive! everything WILL be lost!
Also, if you have never used any Linux distros you will be pretty weirded out
IMPORTANT-- READ THIS --IMPORTANT
You WILL NOT be able to use most/all .exes
MOST/ALL of your files will be unusable till you get the hang of things
That is all... i see the only reason Linux is good for hacking is just because Linux is better than Windows, lol. But seriously, if you are going to be programming alot (which i doubt you are) or running trainers and stuff... DONT DOWNLOAD LINUX DISTROS. _________________

don't switch OSes just because someone makes the unsubstantiated claim that it is "better", switch if it makes you more productive. _________________

well i guess you right, not all .exe will be useless... except all written in vb and some that are written in c++/c.
Also, i think they where talking about LUnix, so why not try getting LUnix and see if you can do any hacking. I am happy with xubuntu, good for running a server (<3 Samba). _________________
