Hey guys.
I am gonna make a project where you can decide where to extract it to (the exe). Like when you're installing games or such, you can decide where to put them. I need to make this in VB6.
But when I've extracted it, I want it to make a Shortcut on the desktop.
Any idea?

This is just one way of doing this.
Ok so create a drivelistbox and a dirlist box. (You could create a textbox aswell if u dont want to use a varible)
Private Sub Drive1_Change()
Dir1.Path = Drive1.Drive
End Sub
Private Sub Dir1_Change()
text1.text=dir1.path
'or you could use a variable then it would be
'dim variable as string
'variable=text1.text=dir1.path
End Sub
ofc there are more advanced alternatives but i didn't know how good u are at vb.

Do you mean move a file from one place to another? Such as from the same path that your program is located in, into another?
If so, heres quick example I just wrote for ya.

| Load EXE as resource -> Send to customer -> Unpack resource -> Move EXE -> Make shortcut.

He was asking for code on how to do it, not the steps that one would take to create it lol.
Also heres some example source on how to create a shortcut for a given file:

Nowhere did he say he wanted code.
I was just telling him what a simple installer would do (focus on the loading the exe as a resource).

I'm guessing he was talking about having your files that you wish to be moved embedded into the exe inside a resource. Meaning when the program loads, it will look inside itself for the files, extract them from the resource file and then move them.
If thats the case, heres a quick example on how to do it.
