Cheat Engine

This setting is grayed out. It is the only code finding option that works for what I need it to do, and reinstallation and other various attempts to make Cheat Engine revert to the state it was in when the option was available (including restarting my computer) aren't reenabling it.

I REALLY need hardware breakpoints back. How the heck do I make it stop being inaccessible?

The irony is that I downgraded from XP to Vista.

The problem is that it was working fine, and now it's not, which makes no sense to me. Even if it IS Vista.

It's supposed to be an upgrade, yeah.

Trust me, it's not.

Vista has an insane number of compatibility issues.

By installing Vista you downgraded to steamy pile of crap.
So yeah it is a downgrade lol.

Yeah, I think Vista is definitely the problem.

I figured out that IDA Pro has the ability to attach to processes and debug them as well. It was working for a short while, but eventually it crapped out too.

I collected enough info to be able to hack the emulator I was working on to where I wouldn't need Cheat Engine's ability to log reads and writes, but I imagine I may need that ability in the future and now I'm going to be SOL. D:

well, kernelmode debugging will be impossible on 64-bit vista, and may be buggy in 32-bit but never tested.

to get debug register use:
Set compatibility mode to xp sp2 and run as admin
that way the option to use debug registers becomes enabled and you should be able to use them (of course, not on 64-bit processes)
