Hey guys, quite useful site here. I love all the tutorials.

I've having a bit of a problem and maybe someone can help me out.

Is it possible to use CE on WinUAE while playing amiga roms? I have used CE on many emulators sucessfully and been able to cheat on the games.

examples: FceUltra, ZSNES, Kega, MAME, etc. etc. for some reason I can't get it to work for WinUAE.

If some of you are not familiar, WinUAE is an AMIGA emulator. Plays all those old AMIGA 500+ games that I was hooked on when I was small.

Everytime I try and search when a game is running I'm never able to get any results. I know the FLASH GAMES are tricky, everything had multiples of 8 ... that was insane but I even got CE to work on FLASH GAMES.

I am curious about WinUAE. If someone could help me. I will gladly post a link to download the emulator and some roms. Hope this is legal.

Please guys, just want to cheat on some of those old AMIGA games that were hard as hell. If anyone has any tips, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

yes I had that emulator a long time ago and cheated turrican 3 on it,

you may have to scan all memory rather than just the 32 bit default scan setting,,

been a long time so cant remember whether I used cheat engine or tsearch for it,

if you still cant find your values for your particular amiga game,, try using unknown initial scan, and increased / decreased searches,

also try 2 byte types instead of the standard 4 byte type search,, since the amiga winuae emulates was 16 bit( 2 bytes ) computer,, a 4 byte search might be looking at 2 items at once for instance,
you can even go for 1 byte searches for a lot of things,

there are 2 pictures below to show you what I mean

all mem:

using 2 byte searches

Hey man, thanks for the reply !!!

I went out and tried what you said ... but unfortuantely got no results with cheat engine. Mad

I tried ALL memory range and 2 bytes like you said. Also tried unknown values and didn't get back any results. Dammit !!!

You don't remember what settings you used or what UCE again? Would you be willing it give it a try sometime?

I had no luck, I wish it was easy to cheat on this like other emulators. Dammit, why is WINUAE so hard Sad.

Hope to hear frmo you soon with more tips.

Thanks for trying man, I appreciate the reply. Hope you can help me out further.

Thanks

well if the value your searching for is below 255 you can use byte searches even,

another thing to try is doing increased searches when a value go down and vice versa, some games increase and compare to a max value,

you can always try float type searches ( decimal point values are float,, but you just use the whole number part, so 100 health you do a float search for 100 and it will sort out all the decimal parts for you )

but in a 16 bit game float values are not very common,
there are all sorts of tricks games use,
found in an 8 bit emulator called sinclair zx32 with a game called gilligans gold,
this game was so simplistic,
blocky graphics
only 3 screens each level
but the lives were funny to find,
each life was held in 2 bytes in the emulator,, maybe one byte each in the original but this is how the mem view looked

LIVES.....bytes

3............01 01 01
2............01 01 00
1............01 00 00
0............00 00 00

weired eh for a 1980's 8 bit game,
I could draw better graphics on a bit of paper with a pencil but it took a little while to find the lives addresses,

anyway back to 16 bits
although the amiga was a better games machine I prefer the atari emulator on the pc
its easier to set up without messing about with kickstarts, you just load up a Tos image that works,

then you can get thousands of games for it from the links that come with it,
STEEM engine is the one I use if a 16 bit game takes my fancy,

Arrow Arrow Arrow http://steem.atari.st/download.htm

you got all you need for it there,
although you probably already used it, most amiga games were on the atari st

tho a few were amiga only,

what game are you trying to cheat as a matter of interest, ???
