If you navigate to some php site then the server will process the php page before the browser gets it.

If I want the source, does it mean I HAVE to go through user authentication (e.g. FTP) or are there other ways to download the php source from the browser which I didn't know about?

btw, is PHP a form of programming?

Why would the server send any php to the client?
