NOTE: BEFORE I SAY ANYTHING, I IN NO TERMS, WILL BREAK THE RULES OF THE FORUM.(Or the law for that matter as i have been told.)
I recently learned how to make a virus. Im not saying that im going to user it, destribute it, or do any malicious things with it. Im just curious on one thing. It is created in notepad as a .bat file. My question is that,(yes its a virus which doesn't make a difference as to what type of file it is) why .bat files are illegall to distribute over the interent? I read any type of .bat file is illegal to post over the internet wether it was a virus or not.

| Some kid told me how to make a virus from school, i tried, never used, released, destributed, gave, or anything. Im just curious, (because i read on the net) that .bat files are illegal to distribute, and why they are.

.bat isn't illegal to distribute
its just a set of instructions to the cmd prompt
and a good "virus" wont be made in a .bat, as you can change the file with 2 clicks.

if you know what technique im talking about, the virus im talking about is written in command prompt and consists or 2, 2 word lines. The effect causes a reaction that opens over 1000 browsers per sec. causing your computer to crash =o.
Edit: the reason im only saying 2lines of words is because i don't want to release how to do it, because indeed it is bad.

Thats simple just its not banned and they can edit the .bat before running it
You can see exactly what it does right away

Viruses infect and destroy files, .bat files cannot do anything nearly as malicious as that. All you have made is noobware.

i mean stuff like stealing personal info. is bad, i think its pretty bad =/

Well, what a SMART person would be is
rename it to something like "Internet Explorer", change the icon to the ie icon, and hope like crazy that the computer hides known file types. =/

deleting the partition
create a virus that can inject its memory into other processes inturn, ruining all of your computer programs and then spreading itself through msn/aim via keylogging

I must say, that that would be pretty impressive, but how might one use a keylogger to send itself to someone else?
Unless my knowledge fails me (which it does only a few times), a keylogger is something that reads the keys of a program and then sends it back to its author.
Are you thinking of detecting when they have AIM/MSN up, then hooking itself to a message and traveling to another computer?
That, my friend, would be mighty impressive work.

Hmmm, I would like to know how to do this. But I doubt that there are that many tutorials on how to do this, and multiple hours of searching would only accomplish some ok tutorials on some of this stuff. Although I'm sure that there are tutorials from which you will be able to implement this, although where I don't know. Search for it, and if you find some add me, I would greatly like to know how to do this.

I'd choose to erase the file alloc tables and "make all the files and folders look gone" and cause panic for at least a while
