Obviously, because most anti virus programs are written in C++

A simple virus scanner could scan using a few of the following methods:
- MD5 Hash
- Crc32 Check
- AoB for known signatures and such.

Then beyond that there could be endless possibilities on coming up with ways to detect things.

Md5 & Crc would suck. Change one byte and the virus would be undetected.

I never said they were the best methods, I just said they were commonly used for a simple scan.

You don't always have to preform actions on virus files. If you knew what os/build they were running you could scan the system critical files to make sure they have the hash they should, if they don't they could have a virus embedded in them.

Almost everything is made from MSVC++ 6.0/7.0

btw, why the fuck do you wanna make your own Anti-Virus while there's a kick ass anti-virus named "Kaspersky" Very Happy

also, it's possible but requires almost couple of good years of C++ programming and a group of programmers nerds.

if you have time, good luck brother.
