dont use packers for protection

any copy protection in general is futile

I wanna protect it from beign disassembled and such..
Just for my 'Crack Me' program.
Don't need anyone too pro.
Just a basic free protection, without any crapy flash\message box when the program is open.

What's the point of packers? They usually don't hit the same size as just throwing it into a zip or something similar. Then of course since it's already compressed, trying to do that afterwards is pointless since it will just end up bigger than if you just did that in the first place.

I can't think of a benefit of actually compressing .exe with them. Is the protection really their only useful purpose?

people use them to hide their trojans from anti virus programs (ironically anti virus programs now brand ALL packers as malicious (exception: asprotect, armadillo but you wouldn't tell at first because it has a normal import table and everything) )

But what has to be stressed is that all are pointless for reversemes, because the reversers are not reversing your code, they're reversing the packer author's code.

use Themida with hardcore options (API Virtualization level 1x, 1.xmb+ VM)... if you want to protect your file for being dissassembled (unless the person is good unpacker).
