Read some of the other posts - there is almost one of these every day.

Half the people will say delphi - because it's all they know. Someone will say vb - then nine people will jump on them like a pack of wolves saying why vb is the anti-christ.

I'll stick with my position still -- learn C then C++.

Well Delphi is good, if you want to stick with Win32. C++ and C are more universal languages, for example, in my school's robotics club, we used C for everything on it. The drivers came on the hardware that we used, however.

But if you're going to be making programs, regardless, C++ is the best. If you learn C++, you can pick up C and C# very quickly. Delphi may have been the best choice for CE when it was made...but is it now? I really don't know, I think it would be easier to edit it if it were in C++, but it's too late for that.

Bottom line = C++.

C++ was derived from C. So (almost) anything you right in C++ that is "C" code should work. You won't be taking advantage of the C++ standards by doing this - but it *should* work.

Yes it is hard to learn, but creating good applications isn't easy. It gets easier as you go on, once you know the fundimentals and theories it's pretty easy to toss together some code in almost any language.

Though you could just load up vb6 - put in a ocx and say you "made" a program then post it saying "look a web browser i made! woohoo!"... I don't think anyones done that here, have they? Rolling Eyes

First time? If so I will recommend delphi 7e It's newb friendly to a point.
Compared to Visual basics so trust me start Delphi first then get around to using visual basics.
