Uh has anyone faced this problem before?

I installed MS VC++ 6.0 (standard) and started a new project (Hello world template).

I debugged it (pressed F5 for fun) and an exe came out. And then when I press F5 for the second time the compiler froze halfway.

I tried to exit the VC++ IDE but it says "you cannot exit the IDE when a compilation is in progress..." blah blah blah.

So I ended it with task manager. From that moment on I cannot open a project with the IDE.

Reinstalling / reinstalling + restarting / restarting, then reinstalling all didn't work.

What now? (Face the problem and do not introduce me to other things like delphi as "problem solving".) Thanks.

don't run it within the context of the debugger, press ctrl+f9 to run it normally

the situation is:

Access Violation on Ctrl+O (attempt to open a project). IDE terminates.
Has that suggestion come too late or can that be some sort of help?
