well, it's not really a bypass. More like a 'cheat'
I load up vista in a virtual machine, then in a usermode app I made I ask the VMM to change the segment selectors to those of kernelmode, then I allocate some nonpaged memory, load in a driver file, fill in the imports and relocations, and then create a systemthreadat the driver entry.
Of course, the driverentry has to be slightly modified since it has no valid driver_object , and that also means communication with usermode has to change a little. (e.g even based, shared mem object, etc...)
But it's a way... |
That is pretty impressive. Too bad you would have to make use of a virtual machine in order to get around it. That means this can´t be pulled off without the influence of another Windows version. I also don´t see a way to pull this off before Vista is loaded. Nevertheless kudo´s to you for figuring out such a (Ben het engelse woord vergeten, in NL is het 'Omstreden') method to cheat your way into kernelmode.

my VM starts before windows is booted up, so no influence from any other windows. (boots from cd or floppy., well cd never been tested...) This VM even boots linux without having to change anything
But it is a downside that you have to use it. And the biggest downside is that because I only have intel cpu's I only made it intel compatibly (and only intel-vt compatible at that)

I see. A VM that doesn't need an OS to function. I am suddenly beginning to understand why you were advising people to buy an intel core2duo.

What does Core2Duo have that allows these exploits? I like these VM projects, they could go somewhere.

That wasn't really what I meant. He is stating that he has made this compatible only with intel cores. That's why I said:

| Isn't there a possibility to load this method before Vista starts, then make use of it while working in Vista (like a live dual boot).
