thanks god i never thought on win10, win8.1
i been watching this topic for long.
i already know about this. i have intel 7th gen cpu.
while ago i was downloading patches from windows update, after a reboot i noticed big window popped with bunch of crap saying that:
windows 7 blabla .. intel 7th gen... blabla .. not supported ...
i dont remember really, but all what i did is, went to un-install that shitty patch.
and everything is ok.
i also noticed that MS was growing and walking into the road of success, improving XP, then vista ... and then 7.
but after win7, NO. win8.1 & win10 are quite big, with lot of shitty things (memory consuming, storage) honestly i didnt use win8 & win10, but that what i heard from ppl.
win7 support ends after 3 years (2020). so no more windows updates and fixes.
i feel its better to install a fresh copy of win7 with all the available updates and then back it up.
make couple copies of that back up.
keep the backups in safe.
thats what im doing. and ill never go to win8.1 & win10.
maybe if win7 became really old enough.
then ill go for linux.

Apparently there is something wrong with your display though: this thread is about dislikes.

Is Windows 7 still a viable OS? If so.. Does anyone know where I can find a trustworthy, legit home premium 64 bit installation disc? The computer I bought came with like, windows 12 and I'm thoroughly done with it.

It sure is - although you won't be getting WinDOS updates anymore.
Though with Windows 7, you don't want the x64 architecture...
Can't help you with a source though.
I would oogle for XP SP3.

How come no x64? Well I was doing some googling and found what appears to be a whole bunch of installs from key resellers but none that I recognize.

x64 was not stable on WinDOS 7.
x86 is rock solid, so stick with that if you go WinDOS 7.
